The long-awaited Deadpool movie sees Ryan Reynolds flanked by a supporting cast that includes Haywire's Gina Carano, former Homeland actress Morena Baccarin, Game Of Thrones veteran Ed Skrein and Silicon Valley star TJ Miller.
Actor Ryan Reynolds gets to be really, really badly-behaved in his new superhero film Deadpool - think Tony Stark x 10 obscenity-spouting swag. To protect his vision for the modestly budgeted special effects movie, Reynolds also served as one of the film's producers and pushed to have the production shot in his hometown of Vancouver past year.
Apparently, the oft-quipping Reynolds and Deadpool are much the same, humor wise. As Reynolds tells the story, he was attached to a standalone Deadpool movie at the time that got scrapped.
A man who can beat the living snot out of cancer, bullet wounds and body dismembering with accelerated healing powers, wield a smorgasbord of wicked weaponry and still have time to engage his audience with his unique and at most times inappropriate commentary on his life.
From there it's a fun and fast revenge-laden thrill ride.
"'Deadpool" has blown away fellow adapted comic book and graphic novel titles on social media", said Shawn Robbins, senior analyst at BoxOffice.com. 20th Century Fox first brought the character to life in the woeful "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", with Ryan Reynolds playing a completely misconceived version of the character - they took the Merc With A Mouth, and sewed his mouth shut. This should be a big success and a solid franchise for him moving forward. When "Origins" became the only Wade Wilson role out there, he reluctantly signed on to the cameo part while filming the movie "The Proposal".
Now, as the movie debuts on Valentine's Day weekend-yeah, it's a whole weekend now, sorry-they're pulling out all the stops by getting a glowing review from America's reigning grandmother: Betty White. It will offend you and make you laugh and that's not so bad.
