Westminster Dog Show's Top Dogs and Fan Favorites

U.S. is offering digital access throughout THE WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW, starting at 8am ET, on February the 15th. Hazel will compete in Westminster's "conformation", the official name for dog shows, where dogs are judged by their breeding stock - conformation determines a dog's ability to produce quality purebred puppies.

She defeated the Australian Shepherd, the Border Collie, and the Puli.

"What's most important is that she's enjoying herself", he said. He is the author of Angel On A Leash, a book about his work and observations in the world of therapy dogs and his life in dogs.

"Toby SIT!" Heesemann commands, as dog and owner get ready for Westminster in a practice space at Hal Wheeler's Pet Resort & School for Dogs in Cedar Grove. Brennan chose "Blue Moon" because when Heart was a puppy, she picked her out just after a blue moon.

"I'm honored and excited", she says.

Second-place finisher Smartie, a Belgian Tervuren, stacked water bowls with her mouth.

"Like they said, he's America's dog", handler Tristan Huebner said.

Miss P, a beagle from Enderby, won Best in Show in 2015. However, some other canine sports, such as agility, are growing faster.

"New York City is really not that far when you consider we travel to California, Texas and Wisconsin", said Cerilli, whose family owned Holster's sire and grandsire.

The dogs get used to all the pampering, said Grace Kaplan of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the owner of a 5-year-old Old English Sheepdog named Peekaboo's.

"There's no expiration date stamped on the bottom of your foot", she said.

That was Monday night at the Westminster Kennel Club. The dogs and their breeds come from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and 12 other countries.
