The Surface Phone start button, upon being tapped once is expected to launch the menu of the phone, and upon being pressed for a while, it will launch Cortana - the Microsoft voice-based assistant.
The first theory, as said on the previous reports, is due to the fact that the next Windows 10 update, Redstone 2, would most likely roll out sometime next year - the first update is expected to be released sometime June 2016.
Windows Surface Phone, which Microsoft's CMO Chris Capossella referred to as a breakthrough device, will launch in 2017, according to a report.
"If you wanted to reach a lot of phone customers, Windows Phone isn't the way to do it. If you want to reach a lot of Windows customers, then this is the largest install base of 9 to 30-inch screens".
"We're going to do some cool things with phones, but this year phones are an important part of our family but not the tip of the spear", he added. Surface Book is Microsoft's attempt to provide users with a Windows 10 hybrid that functions as a laptop as well as a tablet all the while featuring top-notch hardware and productivity at its peak. But with the sale news fans and enthusiasts speculate if Microsoft will release its successor, Surface Pro 5, anytime soon.
Thanks to Intel's x86 chips, Surface phone will be able to run not only Windows Store apps but also Win32 apps which will make it run like a true personal computer.
As far as the Surface phone goes, Capossella confirmed the development of the same in a podcast interview.
