Arsenal FC to place £30million bid for Liverpool FC striker Daniel Sturridge

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we'll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe.

A number of names have been linked with Arsenal over the past few weeks and it has been claimed that the Gunners will place a bid of around £30million for Daniel Sturridge during the close season.

Arsenal have endured another mediocre campaign and clearly need to strengthen their squad in order to stand a chance of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

While, Liverpool might not be keen to part ways with their main striker, a bid in excess of £30m would make them reconsider their options.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger knows he must sign a world-class attacker before the start of next season, with the Frenchman constantly switching between Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck in an attempt to find a consistent source of goals.

The 26-year-old, who has 17 global caps for the Three Lions and is expected to feature for England at Euro 2016 later this year in France, has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Reds so far this season.

However the striker is back to full fitness, and Klopp was singing his praises after he scored in the 3-0 win over Villarreal in midweek that helped Liverpool to the Europa League final.

It continues to claim that if Liverpool send out even the merest hint that they are prepared to sell, Arsenal would face competition for Sturridge's signature, although Chelsea and Manchester City would be out of the question.

At 26, Sturridge still has some of his best years ahead of him-providing he can steer clear of injuries-although it remains to be seen whether Arsenal could tempt him away from Klopp's revolution at Anfield.
