Axl Rose made his first performance with AC/DC in Lisbon last night, and it appears the Guns N' Roses frontman has silenced his critics.

According to The Sun, fans comments on Rose's debut with AC/DC were mostly positive, with one fan tweeting "No doubts now: @axlrose is nailing it. #RockOrBust #acdc".

"Nice to meet you!" shouted the 54-year-old rocker as he took to the stage wearing his trademark bandana under a hat, but confined to a chair because of a broken foot.

AC/DC have performed their first live show with Axl Rose on vocals.

"They sound good but it's really not AC/DC anymore, they should rename it he Angus Young band or something", Dave Miranda said on Facebook. In the end it was the need to harmonize with AC/DC guitarists Angus and Stevie Young, bassist Cliff Williams and drummer Chris Slade, that compelled Axl Rose to develop his own style with them. Rose said he was given a hard task of stepping in for Johnson.

The audience seemed to embrace Rose as the new AC/DC frontman.

Rose seemingly had a ball on stage, at one point laughing off an "Axl" chant from the Lisbon crowd to say, "I know what you meant".

"I called the day I read about it in the news that there was a situation going on with Brian's hearing", Rose told BBC News. "It was clear that, musically at least, the GN'R man is a great fit for AC/DC".

Notorious for playing at painfully high decibels, AC/DC brought in Rose for the European tour and the 10 postponed USA dates.
