It fell behind Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, the Grand Canyon and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. At Sandy Hook and numerous park service's other facilities across the country, visitors won't have to pay entrance fees Thursday through Sunday to commemorate the National Park Service's 100 anniversary. Less than 24 hours ago, on August 24, President Obama declared the newest national park, the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, in northern Maine.
