Earlier this week, Rex executed a grumbling imitation of Belichick during a presser when discussing the injury report in anticipation of the Bills-Pats game at Gillette Stadium this Sunday. For the past three weeks, the Bills knew who'd they'd face.
Ryan responded by saying, "All right, Julian, I will, buddy", as the room broke out in laughter.
And then it maybe did work? They totalled just three all past year.
Both Quarterbacks Practice Wednesday, Belichick Keeps Lid on Starter - The biggest question leading into Sunday's game against the Bills is still which quarterback will start for the Patriots, but it sounds like both Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett are each healthy enough to take the field this weekend against the Bills.
Doug Kyed of NESN reported, "Edelman served as the Patriots' backup quarterback in Week 3, though neither he nor Bill Belichick would confirm that".
Maybe. Even Ryan wants to know.
"This is Walt Patulski, from The Buffalo News". LINE: Patriots -6. O/U: NoneABOUT THE BILLS (1-2): Although Ryan said a reason for firing Roman was his inability to get the team's top playmakers more involved, the absence of star wideout Sammy Watkins forced Buffalo to rely on a ground game that produced 208 yards rushing versus Arizona.
Great question - and one that nobody probably has a good answer for. He's always looking for those.
Ryan disputes the notion his defense is doing more with less. "You ask coach that one". The move to Buffalo was supposed to be something, although nobody was sure what. "I try to be consistent, in a way different way".
"We'll have to see if we can get back on track and play some better football", he said.
But they got Ryan. Yet the amusing thing about when Ryan's team wins, it nearly feels like they're channeling Ryan's inner-hate for their opponent. "Seems like they're committed to running the ball more than they have in the past so obviously we have to do a good job stopping him".
Including his six seasons as coach of the New York Jets, Ryan is just 4-11 against the Patriots, dropping nine of the past 10 match-ups.
That's why it honestly wouldn't come as a total shock if the Bills went into the Patriots home and ripped off a victory.
I imagine Belichick sitting at his dining room table - definitely a rich mahogany rustic tilt-top that has dirtied up over the years but is still attractive - going over the news that he won't win this upcoming season with a grin on his face.
He also needs the win. "I'm not really in tune to all of that".
It could happen, and it would be huge for Buffalo and Ryan.
McCoy credited the performance on Anthony Lynn, Buffalo's running backs coach who was promoted to offensive coordinator after Greg Roman was sacked on September 16. Since 2010 he hasn't coached a team to a regular season record over.500.
