TAKE TWO: No denying that Belichick is the all-time best

Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler left and New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett speak at midfield after an NFL football game Thursday Sept. 22 2016 in Foxborough Mass. The Patriots won 27-0

TAKE TWO: No denying that Belichick is the all-time best

That poker tell from Osweiler manifested itself in a major way during the second quarter of the previously undefeated Texans' embarrassing 27-0 debacle of a loss to the Patriots on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium.

New England improved to 3-0 while four-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is serving his four-game "Deflategate" suspension.

"Jacoby didn't look stressed out at all", Doeren said.

"Even with the way they coach", said Charley Casserly, the former general manager in Houston and Washington, on Wednesday, "this will be hard". Later, ESPN reported a source as saying of Brissett's thumb, "No tear, it's fine". There's a chance he might not be able to play in next Sunday's game with the Buffalo Bills. "I'm a team guy and I feel like I let the guys down".

On Thursday, Jacoby Brissett became the fifth different quarterback to start a game for the New England Patriots since the start of the 1999 season, joining Drew Bledsoe, Tom Brady, Matt Cassell and Jimmy Garoppolo.

If both Garroppolo and Brissett are unable to go for next week's tilt...remember, Bill Belichick has had 10 days to prepare for the Bills...who will be the Patriots' stand-in?

Interestingly, Watt lined up over Cannon or the right side of the line on every snap until Brissett's 27-yard touchdown run. Then Brissett got a smile out of Belichick when he made his way to the sideline after the touchdown run and gave him the ball and a pat on the back.

That's what we have to be ready (for) in case Edelman quarterbacks, right?

The Patriots used his size (6-4, 235 pounds) and speed creatively in the run game and had him throw mostly short passing routes.

From tight end reverse plays, to speed options, to quarterback trap plays, they did their best to utilize Brissett's skills, and the kid didn't disappoint. "We expected it", Hal said.

Personality-wise, Brissett has been a flawless fit with the the team-first, no-nonsense Patriots, too. He was known more for baking his teammates cookies and his hand-written notes than for his self-promotion or interaction with the media.

The Patriots, of course, have gone 3-0 without their long-time starter, and the reserves have played well enough in his absence. Nothing seems to faze the New England Patriots, who just keep on winning no matter what obstacles are thrown their way. "At any moment in the game no one wavered, no one flinched, and the results proved themselves with what our team did tonight".

Brissett went on to complete 11 of 19 passes for 103 yards, and ran for 48 yards on eight carries as the Patriots took advantage of three Houston turnovers. But it was what he didn't do - no interceptions, no fumbles and only one sack - that helped his team beat a mistake-prone Texans team.

"From a fan's perspective, I wanted to watch a good game". "He's really good. Obviously, they're in our division". With a rookie QB making his first National Football League start in Prime Time against a 2015 playoff team that started 2-0, I wasn't expecting a clean game from him. "There's such a value in the position and nowadays in college football there's a lot of spread offenses, which means it's a lot different than pro football".

The New England Patriots could find themselves delving into fourth-string quarterback territory, following a thumb injury which has felled Jacoby Brissett.

STREAK ENDS: The Texans entered Thursday having not allowed touchdown in six consecutive quarters.
