Good news if you're a fan of Dazed and Confused director Richard Linklater or Avengers star Robert Downey Jr - the pair will be collaborating on a film based on the recent "Man of the People" episode from the "Reply All" podcast.
Secondly, I'd like to point out that this sounds like Linklater will be operating in Bernie mode (which is possibly the best Linklater mode), and I think Downey's brand of charm will blend very well with that mode, indeed. Last month saw the release of an episode titled "Man of the People", the true chronicle of a medical con man named Dr. John Brinkley and his efforts to fleece the American people during the early 20th century using the then-novel invention of radio. The film will be a period film and may be based in the period sometime around 1920s-1940s. Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures is producing the movie, which as-yet doesn't have a title.
Robert Downey Jr. will go from from superhero to con artist for an upcoming movie. Linklater will co-produce along with Gimlet Media. Downey Jr.is set to star in an untitled feature for Annapurna Pictures with Boyhood and Before Sunrise filmmaker Richard Linklater directing.
But first, Downey will suit up as Iron Man for Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming, also starring Tom Holland as the web-slinging superhero.
