Donald Glover - known for "Atlanta", "Community" and his rapper persona, Childish Gambino - will be playing the young version of Lando Calrissian, as we learned in October.
And on Tuesday the first cast shot was shared by Disney with the caption: 'Han Solo - Smuggler.
Star Wars published the photo to mark the start of principal photography at Pinewood London Studios, where Star Wars: The Force Awakens was previously filmed.
The photo was released via StarWars.com and showed numerous film's cast and crew on the deck of the Millennium Falcon. Thandie Newton ("Westworld") also stars in the film but was not featured in the photo. While we're not sure what Star Wars has in store for us beyond the year 2019, I think it's safe to say we're covered for the next two years.
It's the second in an anthology of stand alone Star Wars movies.
The Han Solo spin-off is set to premiere May 25, 2018, Disney once again filling a space between trilogy films Episode VIII and Episode IX(that is, assuming that the latter will be released in 2019).
The adventure-filled film will dive into Solo and Chewie's exploits before Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with characters like Calrissian.
Aiden Ehrenreich (r.) will portray Han Solo, the character made famous by Harrison Ford (left).
Joining the young scoundrel is Oscar-nominated actor Woody Harrelson, Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke and recent Golden Globe-winner Donald Glover. There are probably Star Wars fans camping outside the movie theatre already.
The movie is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel.
Co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller also appear, as does Finnish basketball player Joonas Suotamo. Lawrence Kasdan and Jason McGatlin will be Executive Producing.
