Telugu man shot dead in United States

The FBI is trying to determine if the shooting was a hate crime, said Eric Johnson, Special Agent in Charge of the bureau's Kansas City field office.

Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, was killed in Olathe on Wednesday evening.

Kuchibhotla was wounded along with his friend and Garmin engineering co-worker Alok Madasani, also a 32-year-old Hindu from Hyderabad who had been discharged from the hospital Thursday.

The dead man, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, worked for Garmin, an American technology company specialization in GPS navigation, which has its global headquarters in Olathe.

It has also it close to Kuchibholta and Madasani's country of origin, especially - and understandably - among families with relatives who are working in America, which has seen a rise in hate crimes as Trump ran for president on a platform of nationalism, racism, and promises of a Muslim ban.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today expressed shock over the incident and asked the Indian Ambassador Navtaej Sarna to provide all help and assistance to the bereaved family. "It's not uncommon for hate crime investigations to be conducted jointly by the FBI and local law enforcement and prosecuted under the state law".

Bartender Garret Bohnen told the Kansas City Star that Kuchibhotla and Madasani stopped at Austins for a drink once or twice a week. They are said to be "out of danger" after they were admitted in a hospital. "We're all proud of him".

A 51-year-old man from Kansas has been charged with killing an Indian engineer and wounding two other men when he opened fire in a bar.

Coming to the details of the victims, contrary to the Adam's assumptions the two menwere actually Indians.

"I was just doing what anyone should have done for another human being", he said.

"I got up and proceeded to chase him down, try to subdue him.I got behind him and he turned around and fired a round at me", he said.

"Decency and humanity always triumph in the end, but not without struggle and sacrifice", said Jayaprakash Narayan, a Hyderabad-based activist who lauded Grillot's bravery.

"It's not about where he (victim) was from or his ethnicity", Grillot said.

"Srini was the kindest person you would meet, full of love, care and compassion for everyone", reads the GoFundMe page.

The US Embassy in Delhi decried the shooting. Witnesses said the shooting was racially motivated.

Purinton was on the run from Olathe authorities after committing the crime, another Kansas City Star report says that he was apprehended 80 miles away. A bartender at the restaurant in Clinton, Missouri, called police after Adam told him he had been involved in a shooting.

Purinton has been taken into custody and was charged Thursday with murder and attempted murder.
