Fox is developing a musical inspired by the singer and musical producer's childhood, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

We could be super naive here, but does Pharrell have a majorly dramatic back-story that we don't know about?! Williams will produce alongside Mimi Valdes (Hidden Figures) and Gil Netter (Life of Pi, The Blind Side).

No word yet on whether portions of the movie will be shot in Virginia Beach.

The movie is now being pitched as a "Romeo and Juliet-style story" with musical elements.

Perhaps due to the success of La La Land, or perhaps just because singing and dancing is great, it seems everyone wants to make a movie musical these days.

Williams has won 10 Grammy Awards.

Pharrell's recent success with producing and making music for Hidden Figures, combined with the unexpected financial success of La La Land, put this project in the flawless environment to gain traction. Gill Netter will also producer for Netter Films.

Hynes, who also wrote a Curious George project for Imagine and Universal, is repped by Original Artists. He earned his first Oscar nomination in 2014 for writing the song "Happy" for Despicable Me 2, and he previously teamed up with Fox to produce and write the music for Hidden Figures.
