Dwyane Wade returns but Nets hand Bulls potentially costly loss

Outside of Nikola Mirotic (21 points), Jimmy Butler got no help from his supporting cast.

In contrast to previous reports saying Bull's Dwyane Wade is confirmed out for the remaining of the regular season, new reports emerging are saying otherwise.

Looking back at the Bulls' five-man lineup combinations, it's hard to judge the right combination of Bulls bench players and Wade because of the trade to send out Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott. The Pacers (40-40) are now in the seventh slot, leaving the Bulls and Heat tied for the eighth and final spot (39-41).

"I think my confidence in terms of just playing at this level consistently, not having a short leash, being able to make mistakes in general, has grown tremendously and I credit the staff and the organization for that", Dinwiddie said. I'm not holding my breath, although I'd play Grant over Michael Carter-Williams, who missed rim on at least three layups in this game.

Wade (elbow) said Friday that he's hopeful to play in Saturday's game against the Nets and indicated that "between 15 and 20" minutes would be an ideal workload if he suits up, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Bulls ruled Wade out for the remainder of the regular season after an MRI exam the next day, but he could now return for Saturday's game against the Brooklyn Nets.

In his first season in Chicago, Wade is averaging 18.6 points per game with 4.5 assists per contest.

"If he responds in a positive manner from the contact practice, we'll see", Fred Hoiberg told reporters.

"I wanted to get him in there at the end". Chicago is coming off a 100-91 loss at NY on Tuesday.

With Rondo and Wade sidelined, the Bulls still cruised against the lowly Sixers.

Mirotic missed all of his six shots and didn't score until hitting a free throw in the first minute of the third, being replaced by Bobby Portis and watching the Bulls immediately go on a run when he Saturday.

The Philadelphia 76ers' 102-90 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night was one of the most uneventful games of the season. But with Anthony scoring 10 points, the Knicks led 29-24 after one quarter. I believe we've felt enough pain and suffering this season. "I don't know what it's going to look like [next season], but I think we're trending in the right direction".

The Bulls seemed on the brink of missing the postseason for a second straight year just a few weeks ago. The Bulls and Indiana Pacers now have the same record of 39-40 on the season. Butler had his fourth career triple-double.

Wade fouled Dinwiddie the next time down on what appeared to be more miscommunication on a pick and roll, resulting in two free throws with 13 seconds left. The Bulls were six of 27 on threes.

Can the Chicago Bulls go on the road and take care of business when it takes on the Philadelphia 76ers at 7PM ET?

The 76ers are barely fielding a functional National Basketball Association roster at this point, so even the Bulls couldn't blow this game in Philly.
