YouTube TV, the video platform's live television service, is now available in a limited group of USA cities: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Philadelphia.
So, this is good news for folks who live in one of those five major U.S. cities, but for the rest of us, we're left waiting until this roll out expands. If you're living in one of the cities mentioned, you can subscribe to YouTube TV if you think it suits your needs. "They wanted the experience that they were used to from YouTube, Spotify and Netflix so that they could watch programming anywhere they wanted, whenever they wanted, wherever they wanted, on any device". A one-month free trial is available, and YouTube is providing a free Chromecast with the first month's payment to allow customers to stream content to a television set. The day is here at last and now YouTube TV is officially available to the cord cutting masses.
Subscribers will also get a DVR with unlimited cloud storage, as well as access to all YouTube Red Originals. Among the offerings from the networks that are included are live sports from the NBA, MLB, NFL and the NCAA.
The $35 a month service, which delivers access to traditional broadcast and cable channels over the web, can be accessed in New York, San Francisco, LA, Chicago and Philadelphia.
YouTube TV allows members to stream live shows on their phone, tablet, computer, Google Chromecast, or Chromecast built-in TV for just $35 United States dollars a month. It is, currently, the only streaming service to provide access to these networks so if you happen to enjoy them then that's a point in Youtube TV's favor.
For an additional monthly fee, subscribers can add Showtime and Fox Soccer Plus, with Shudder and Sundance Now launching soon. However, each membership only allows three simultaneous livestreams, so only three people can watch live TV at once using one account.
