'Bachelor' star Chris Soules charged in deadly Iowa crash

The sheriff's office got a call at about 8:20 p.m. Monday that a truck had collided with a tractor north of Aurora in Buchanan County, Deputy Cory Hartmann, who responded to the scene, told The Register Monday night.

According to KWWL, Soules' truck also went into the ditch and he left his vehicle there and left the scene after the crash.

The driver of the tractor was later identified as Kenneth E. Mosher, age 66, of Aurora.

Documents obtained by TMZ claim that Soules was "in possession of alcoholic beverage containers" when he rear-ended the tractor.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's office confirms to ET that Soules was arrested at 1:16 a.m. and is now still in jail on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

The Bachelor's Chris Soules has been arrested following a fatal vehicle crash in his home state of Iowa, TMZ reports.

Some in Arlington say Chris Soules had an opportunity to be a positive leader since his appearance on the Bachelor reality show back in 2014. "His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher's family". Chris has released a statement about that incident and the death of the other person in the accident. His court date is set for next week on May 2nd, with bail set at $10,000 bond.

Four days before the fatal crash, Soules uploaded an image of himself in New York City to Instagram.

January 10, 2012: Soules pleaded guilty to speeding in a 25 miles per hour zone and paid a fine. He is in the Buchanan County jail, in the case of hit and run.

The Bachelor alum fled the scene of the fatal accident and was subsequently arrested and taken to jail.

The cause of the crash and whether or not Soules had been intoxicated is still under investigation.

As has become common practice, Soules also competed on the next season Dancing With the Stars, where he finished fifth with professional partner Witney Carson.

Soules was one of the most popular "Bachelors" ever, dubbed "Prince Farming" in 2015 when he appeared on Season 19 of the show. Soules proposed to Whitney Bischoff on the season finale, but the couple broke off their engagement six months later.
