NETFLIX13 Reasons Why tells the story of a girl who committed suicide

Although Hannah's story may not yet be complete, Netflix notes that there will, in fact, be a new narrator as there are no more tapes left behind in the teen's recorded diary.

ET spoke to the pair at the Netflix FYSee Kick Off Event at Netflix FYSee Space on Sunday, where they got candid about some of the criticism being lobbied at the show. The second season of 13 Reasons Why will continue the story told in season one and continue to show the aftermath of suicide and the decisions people make in their lives.

Hannah's story is definitely not over. If that's the case, they should ask questions, find out what messages their child has received and talk honestly about suicide, she said.

While that is true to a degree, it's not like these situations were all that open-ended when the final episode rolled around.

Dr. Stone continued that it was not only the depiction of Hannah's suicide that was problematic, but also the ways in which the events that occurred after her death were scripted. "So the cassette tapes aren't at the center of it - those two boxes of tapes are still hanging around and matter to people - but there will be a new piece of technology for 13-year-olds to Google and try to understand what it was". You might have even binge-watched it like I did (because it's so good, it's hard to stop).

13 Reasons Why season two has finally been officially confirmed, and while the wait for more is going to be long and bad, the creators are not making us wait for spoilers.

She's only 17, and she chooses to end her life. Her character Hannah Baker, however, will not.

It's important for parents to know what their kids are doing online and how they're interacting with others, Heilbron said. Even Clay formed his own style of revenge by taking an inappropriate picture of Tyler in the nude and texting it to everyone, the same way Tyler had done with Hannah. Who is your favorite character?

But what's the point of bringing all this up? Although, according to a Columbia University report, there is strong evidence to show that "suicide is contagious", the theory has not been proven. "But it was incredibly troubling to me that suicide was portrayed as being, almost, inevitable, like she had no other option". Yorkey revealed that he knew immediately after shooting Season 1 that he wanted another season, one that would dive into the recovery process of these characters, and how Hannah's death has changed their lives.

According to a five-part list posted to Netflix's official Twitter account on May 9, there are quite a few questions that will be hopefully be answered in the second coming of the harrowing series that revolves around the sensitive topics of bullying, rape and teen suicide.

The show was pretty self-contained, and based off just one book.

13 Reasons Why has also earned a fair share of critical acclaim. However, you should keep an eye out for it pop up sometime next year.
