Myles Garrett picked first in an NFL Draft of surprises

Jabrill Peppers was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The Cleveland Browns were picking No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft for a reason - the franchise is in awful shape, and the roster is severely lacking for talent.

Since returning to the National Football League in 1999, the Browns have failed to find that franchise quarterback via the draft. The Bears took quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the pick. 67 and 111) this year and a third-rounder next year.

But that's been the hope before and years of blown draft picks, particularly in the first round, have hampered the team from making any significant progress.

"C'mon, Philly, C'mon", Goodell said Thursday night amid the boos, not even wincing at the reception.

Garrett was not on hand, but promised Cleveland fans "great things are coming".

To be fair, the Browns were 1-15 past year and need help everywhere.

"And after that it was silent", Trubisky said. "There was no call".

On being paired with Myles Garrett in the Browns' defense: "I think it's going to be a sight to see". It did, eventually. It just took a while.

TJ Onwuanibe, a 14-year-old from Baltimore, who is in remission after battling a rare form of brain cancer, was chosen to announce the Baltimore Ravens' pick of Marlon Humphrey. Conley was named in a police report that details the allegations but no information has been forwarded to prosecutors.

The Browns' regime led by Sashi Brown has yet to make its bold move to land a franchise quarterback. We have a lot of holes to fill on this roster.

On tape, former Florida State running back Dalvin Cook is a first round player all day long.

"He's special", Coughlin said.

"To put on that kind of weight and still maintain my athleticism, it was a good grind for two years", Shaheen said. Originally expected to go in the top five, Allen dropped all the way to No. 17, where he was selected by the Washington Redskins, who desperately need help up front on the defensive side of the ball. Shaheen finished his career with 129 catches for 1,755 yards and 26 TDs.

In College Station, Texas, Garrett broke Jadeveon Clowney's SEC freshman sack record and followed with first-team All-America honors his final two seasons.
