Fans from here to the farthest stretches of the outer rim were bombarded with a barrage of new behind-the-scenes photos from Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, courtesy of Vanity Fair. As they did with The Force Awakens, Vanity Fair have done a big cover story on the upcoming Star Wars film, and while there are still secrets being kept, they have - through a number of articles, the wonderful photography of Annie Leibovitz, and a great Reddit AMA with writer David Kamp - unveiled plenty of new details about the most hyped movie of the year. She thought IX would be her movie.
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, doesn't either. "And it would have been", Kennedy said.
"She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend".
Speaking of the success of Rogue One and The Force Awakens, Kennedy says the studio felt a 'palpable sense of relief'.
The next of these films will arrive on December 15 of this year, as this is when Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released, while Han Solo will follow in May, 2018, and then Star Wars 9 will hit cinemas on 2019. We are still hurting from her loss.
It's been five months since actress Carrie Fisher died, and her final magazine shoot has just been released. At one point during filming, Hamill said to director Rian Johnson, "I pretty much fundamentally disagree with every choice you've made for this character".
Hamill also says he made sure to share his "thousands of bad ideas" with both Johnson and The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, hoping he'd blurt out one the liked. Where are we going?' It was really the release of Rogue One, because we knew we were moving on with the trilogy, but we didn't know exactly how these Star Wars stories would be received.
