Wenger: Top Four Failure Won't Affect Arsenal Transfer Plans

Wenger bemoaned some teams being "on holiday" with nothing to play for late in the Premier League season, with Arsenal relying on others to claim a top-four finish.

Speaking before Arsenal's do-or-die clash with Sunderland on Tuesday night, Wenger said of potentially not making the top four: "I started the season wanting to win the [title]".

City face Watford away in Sunday's final round of fixtures with Arsenal at home to Everton and Liverpool taking on already-relegated Middlesbrough at Anfield.

They are one point behind fourth-placed Liverpool and three behind City, who are third.

"I'm quite surprised. I want to absolutely make sure that we are in there but after that let's get to 75 points and see what happens. It would be the first time you make 75 points and you're not in the top four". "Of course, it's an exceptional achievement and I would like to say that, to score and provide in double figures, you need to be a special player".

"Sunderland fought and you want that in the Premier League, that is what you want from every team".

"I think that's an insult to football as I've been a player myself", he said.

Wenger's comments come as Arsenal could finish the campaign with more points than last season - when they were second - and still miss out on a Champions League spot.

Moyes said that British players had too much pride to ever give anything less than 100 per cent, a common theme of his this season. "I've been a player myself and I would hate anybody questioning me, saying I wasn't going to be playing and was going to chuck it".

"We were frustrated at half-time not to be leading".

"They play the way they want to play, so if teams of Tony Pulis want to play that way, perfect".

The visitors had to wait until the 34th minute for their first chance when Jermaine Defoe played Didier Ndong through on goal, however Petr Cech produced a good save to deny the winger.

If we fail to win both of the remaining games I think it will be Chelsea's trophy.
