In Iowa, Trump ready to rally base, celebrate GOP resilience

Self-identified independents in Iowa voted for Trump over Democrat Hillary Clinton by a 13-percentage-point margin previous year, according to exit polls conducted for The Associated Press and television networks.

The wall, which was a core campaign promise, has not been at the centre of the White House's agenda since the election of Mr Trump, and the funding for which has been thus far rejected by Congress.

President Donald Trump has a grand new scheme that earned him a standing ovation at a recent rally, but the problem is it's not such a new scheme after all.

The rally was expected to include a tribute to former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, picked by Trump to be ambassador to China. "They gave up a lot", said Trump.

"We'll be putting in legislation to that effect very shortly", he said, drawing enthusiastic applause from an audience of about 6,000 people, according to an estimate by the U.S.

Trump's stop at Kirkwood Community College was meant to draw attention to the school's advancements in high-tech agriculture, but he resisted sitting behind the wheel of a virtual reality device that simulated a giant combine harvester.

After breaking so many promises, it seems President Donald Trump is making vows that are more achievable now. At first, Trump's candidacy was viewed as nothing more than a joke and possible stunt to generate higher ratings for his reality show.

"The president was referring to policies he laid out both during his joint address to Congress and in his budget that promote a merit-based approach to immigration that requires self-sufficiency", a White House spokesman told The Washington Examiner about the president's proposal of a US law already in effect. Scheduled to join him were Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross as part of the administration's effort this week to highlight the importance of technology.

Handel's victory denied Democrats the chance to flip a solidly Republican district in the hopes that Trump's rising unpopularity could sink congressional Republicans.

"We're 5-0 in special elections", Trump told the crowd. He will visit Kirkwood Community College which is recognized by the White House as a major center of agricultural innovation and speak at a rally.

"Thank you @FoxNews "Huge win for President Trump and GOP in Georgia Congressional Special Election", Trump tweeted after the race was called". Total disarray. The MAGA Mandate is stronger than ever.

"If we went and got the single greatest healthcare plan in the history of the world, we would not get one Democrat vote because they're obstructionists", Trump said.
