Barack Obama arrived with his wife and two daughters to Indonesia, the ex-first family enjoys a holiday.

Fox cites the fact that he has been staying at resorts such as Marlon Brando's private island, Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island, and a Four Seasons in Bali, where rooms cost upwards of $2,000 a night.

However it is former USA president Barack Obama who is winning in the style stakes as his family jetted off to Indonesia for a nine-day vacation.

"Obama is fascinated by Borobudur, and he remembers that he has seen this temple when he was a child", said Edy Setijono, head of the temple management complex, who accompanied the family at the site.

Indonesia's president, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, suggested the trip to Obama, who is also scheduled to speak at an Indonesian diaspora congress in Jakarta on Saturday. On Tuesday, they visited a temple and had on yellow sarongs over their clothes.

His visit to Indonesia represents something of a homecoming, as young Barack moved to Jakarta with his mother, Ann Dunham, an anthropological researcher, at age 6, before returning to the United States to live with his grandparents in Hawaii at age 10, Conde Nast Traveler reports. Sasha wore a black jumper-like dress over a t-shirt with tennis shoes. Sasha recently celebrated her 16th birthday, while Malia is spending time with her family before her freshman year begins at Harvard University in the fall. The former first daughters were snapping photos of the scenery. During his return, he's been spotted white water rafting down the Ayung River and touring the Jatiluwih rice terraces, one of UNESCO's World Heritages. Malia took a gap year after graduating her senior year at Sidwell Friends in Washington, D.C.; she'll begin her studies at Harvard this fall.
