An AAU basketball game at Cashman Center was almost canceled Wednesday night due to fire-code concerns as an overflow crowd jammed court 5 to watch LaVar Ball's Big Baller Brand face SC Supreme.
Organizers were anxious that the game would be canceled due to the massive turnout, but local police gave event organizers the green light only a minute before game time. And yesterday two of those players, LaMelo Ball and Zion Williamson, squared off against each other at the Adidas Summer Uprising Championship.
According to ESPN's Myron Medcalf, the Cashman Center in Las Vegas was so packed that police needed to block the door and ordered a barricade to keep people out.
Medcalf added that a law enforcement official said the game was "way oversold".
"They're gonna have to get a bigger venue", LaMelo's father, LaVar said of the jam-packed crowd. "When the Big Baller Brand come to town, better get something big". "Me and my son against anybody, we'll play and we'll win", LaVar said.
Despite the commotion, the AAU basketball game commenced, with SC Supreme defeating Big Baller Brand, 104-92. I don't care about no LeBron. The confusion may have sparked improved play, as LaMelo Ball finished with 31 points, while Williamson scored 28 points. LeBron do his thing, I just worry about my boys.
