De Roon makes Atalanta return from Middlesbrough

Baker has been tipped as a future England worldwide by former Blues boss Jose Mourinho and has impressed when out on loan in recent seasons.

"I'm here to give my input and hopefully get the club back to the Premier League".

"This opportunity arose and I thought it would be a great one for me".

"I already know what the Championship is about".

He had loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons, but has spent the last two seasons playing in the Netherlands with Vitesse Arnhem.

"They have played an incredible season, the best ever, and what they have achieved last season was insane".

If Baker was to move to Boro he would be another notable addition for Garry Monk's side. Antonio Conte preferred to use him as an inside forward, another position that lacked depth, which indicated that the youngster never really was seriously in the reckoning for a first-team place this season. Baker scored 15 goals in 39 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit last term which includes a number of spectacular long range efforts.

Atalanta have resigned Dutch midfielder Marten de Roon from Middlesbrough for a fee of €13.5 million excluding bonuses.

He wants the Blues to sign several more experienced players during the transfer window to help the Premier League champions compete on all fronts next season.
