Liverpool spent most of the summer fending off Barcelona's interest in Brazilian global Coutinho, rejecting a host of bids to keep the playmaker at Anfield despite his desire to make the move to Catalunya.

"It was a hard month for me, but now it's all over and I must focus on having a good season, helping my team, thinking about Liverpool and the national team", he continued.

"What happened was a job offer and, in life, sometimes you get interested".

Speaking about the failed move, he told ESPN Brasil: 'I was interested by the offer but now my focus is on having a good season with Liverpool and with the national team.

"As I've always said, it's a great honour to receive an offer from such a great club like that. Liverpool is a great club".

"And, of course, in the end, doing it in a great way to help the team, honouring the shirt and thinking about the team and the Selecao".

Coutinho missed the start of the season as speculation continued over just where he would be playing his football this term but he is happy to now be back on the field.

"It was a complicated month for me, but like I said I'm here now. It is all cool", he added. "From the first moment I played here and in the last game, I was very well received - like I always have been for the past four or five years".

It wouldn't be too controversial to say right now that Sadio Mane is Liverpool's most important player. That has not changed.

"And in my case, as everybody knows, I got interested, my family too. It is all in the past".
