Two Militants Killed in J&K as Army Foils Infiltration Bid

Infiltration bid foiled: 2 terrorists killed in J&K

Two terrorists were gunned down while trying to make an infiltration bid at the Machil sector in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir.

An army statement said the militants were killed in an infiltration bid and two weapons were recovered from them. Two AK-47 rifles and war-like stores were recovered from them, the army spokesperson said. Reports suggest the firing began at midnight and continued till 6.45 am.

The search operation by security forces was suspended for few hours last night due to darkness only to be resumed with the first light this morning in the woods, official sources told UNI.

In a similar case on Friday, a BSF jawan was martyred and a civilian was injured as Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Infiltration bid eliminated in Machhil sector".

The Machil and Naugam sectors in Kupwara district, Uri sector in Baramulla district and Gurez sector in Bandipora district of north Kashmir happen to be traditional routes of infiltration for militants.
