Ahead of the 10th anniversary of the original Kindle in November, the new top-end device aims to lead Amazon's e-readers into the next decade with a new aluminium design, longer built-in battery life and a larger, brighter screen.

In terms of waterproofing, the Amazon Kindle Oasis is IPX8 rated, which means that it can withstand immersion in over 1-meter of water.

After launching a slew of consumer devices like the Amazon Echo range of smart speakers in India, has on Wednesday introduced an all-new waterproof Kindle ebook reader called the Amazon Kindle Oasis and it is already up for pre-orders in India. Now, the all-new Amazon Kindle has come with waterproofing feature which has always been a requirement for Kindle e-readers.

Apart from being the company's first waterproof Kindle e-reader, the Kindle Oasis is also Amazon's thinnest and lightest Kindle e-reader ever. The 7-inch Kindle Oasis features a metal chassis and it's completely waterproof (IPX8 rating).

This latest Amazon eReader has Wi-Fi support and a 3G model.

The Kindle Oasis comes with Bluetooth connectivity to let you connect wireless headphones or speakers. The covers also launch on Halloween, so your Kindle Oasis doesn't have to spend one minute in its birthday suit. The 32GB capacity is only available in a cellular model at $489.99. However, the "free 3G" connectivity will be offered via Amazon Whispernet free of cost.

The 2017 Kindle Oasis will be available in two storage options: 8GB costing [$250] and 32GB costing £260. In India, it's partnering with Vodafone for this, but the company says it will wireless coverage in "over 100 countries and territories".

The water-safe fabric covers can be purchased for Rs 2,999 and come in indigo, charcoal and sandstone colours. The device integrates Amazon's Audible audiobook service, which is a first for a Kindle.
