Manchester United are willing to offer Anthony Martial to Barcelona for Ivan Rakitic in a swap-deal, as per surprising reports from Diario Gol.

Arsene Wenger is on the look-out for a replacement for Alexis Sanchez - who's expected to join Man City either in January or in the summer - and it seems the Gunners boss has identified Martial as a potential target.

Recent reports from Spain claimed Catalan giants Barcelona were also monitoring his situation with the imminent return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic which could see the winger fall down the pecking order.

The 21-year-old had a great debut season at Old Trafford, but slumped in his second go-around, the first year under Jose Mourinho.

Martial has struggled to secure a starting shirt for Manchester United so far this season as it seems United gaffer Jose Mourinho prefers English starlet Marcus Rashford to him.

The former golden ball victor who joined from Monaco two years ago under Louis Van Gaal for £56million has made a strong start to the campaign scoring five goals with five assists in nine appearances.

Martial considered the possibility of a loan move to Sevilla midway through last season but Mourinho was determined to keep hold of the young forward.

Flicking through the plethora of articles available on the internet, it seems that Barcelona, despite what other sources might infer, are keen on signing a forward who now plays for the EPL side, Manchester United.

Up next for Martial's United is a Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday (12:30pm).

"If you want just a word, in the happiness, he's a happy guy, he's working extremely well, he starts matches, he tries to do well".

"I am very pleased with his attitude overall and then it's easier to play well".
