"Diet Avocados" Have Just Been Discovered

A Spanish food company has just created 'diet' avocados and we are intrigued

'Diet avocados' are a thing and millenials have officially taken over

At least now you'll be skinnier when you cry about all the home-buying money you squandered on avocado toast: A fruit company over in Spain has invented an actual diet avocado - all the Instagrammability, only 30 percent of the fat.

Avocados are becoming increasingly popular everywhere, that it's only expected someone actually created a low-calorie version of it. Isla Bonita also claims their avocado "oxidizes more slowly", making it longer-lasting (i.e. less likely to turn that gross grayish brown) than the real deal. It was discovered when 32 different varieties of avocados were analyzed in 6 different countries. It's officially launching this month in Madrid -but, as of now, Isla Bonita has no plans to expand to the US.

This definitely does not mean that regular avocados are bad for you.

A large avocado contains about 330 calories, just under one fifth of the daily recommended intake for an average woman.

Intrigued? To be fair, avocado fat is generally considered good for you already, particularly in regards to heart health.

The Avocado Light is described as having a "mild" flavor and "a juicier and lighter pulp", making it "ideal for the smoothies, cold soup, gazpachos, [and] cocktails".

Avocados are proven to be quite the superfood too, providing nutritious heart-healthy fats, about half your day's fiber, folate, vitamin A, vitamin C and potassium.

Kari Glassman, another nutritionist also said: "This sounds like an very bad idea to me!"
