Meghan McCain Formally Joins 'The View' as Co-Host

Whoopi Goldberg tried gamely Monday morning to gin up some sense of anticipation in announcing the newest co-host of the morning gabfest show "The View", hyping the unnamed new personality as the cameras trained on an empty chair.

Rumors had been circulating that McCain would join the morning talker, after conservative voice Jedidiah Bila abruptly exited the show last month.

10/9/17 Today, live on "The View", Meghan McCain was welcomed to the Hot Topics table as the newest co-host of ABC's award-winning talk show. Speaking to co-host Joy Behar, McCain said, "I don't think we're going to agree on anything, Joy, but I'm really excited".

She's also had a few stints as a television host and resigned her position as a Fox News contributor to take on the new job at ABC. John McCain, and sent out one of her own, making a Views-related Drake joke. Her viewpoints on the show are likely to gain scrutiny as viewers watch whether she gels with the program's other co-hosts, who typically maintain a more liberal perspective on the news cycle.

"My parents are very excited and encouraged me to come do this, which I think should people should know", she said. "When you hear "cancer" a nuclear explosion goes off in your life, no matter who you are". And he said are you kidding! "I didn't realize how intense and disruptive and scary and hopeless and chaotic you would feel all day long", she said with tears in her eyes, adding that the doctors, nurses and cancer researchers are the "real heroes".

McCain is the daughter of Arizona Sen.
