Radio host Delilah is taking some time off from her nationally syndicated program after the death of her son.
Explaining her son's condition, Rene elaborated that he "was being treated, counseled, and embraced fiercely by family and friends while battling depression for some time now", noting that her "heart is broken beyond fix".
NEWS reports, "ZACK was one of the host's 13 children - 10 of whom are adopted". She also asked her followers to pray for her son and to pray for everyone who suffers from a disease like depression.
Rene added a picture of her son with the post. On Saturday, Delilah shared news of the tragedy on social media. "I'll look forward to my return, as you all lift me up so very much!" This news comes just five years after she lost her adopted son Sammy to complications from sickle-cell anemia. She didn't say how old he was. In the midst of her son's death, Delilah revealed that she felt broken and her heart is beyond fix.
Delilah met Sammy in 2010 through her work with Point Hope, a non-profit children's welfare organization she founded.
"My son Sammy passed from this world today into heaven, but he left behind a piece of his unbelievable soul in all that met him".
Delilah said she's stepping away from the radio and social media "as I grieve and try to process this loss with my family".
Delilah said in a January Facebook post that Zack was autistic. She has not yet stated when she plans to return.
"Delilah", initially syndicated as "Delilah After Dark", is a call-in and request show where listeners can dedicate songs to their loved ones.
