This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as a plug-in hybrid version of Land Rover's smallest offering debuted in concept form back in 2015. Also look for updates to the vent graphics, lower side accents, and rear bumper. There are also new 20-way Oxford leather or 24-way Semi-Aniline leather front seats if you want to upgrade even further.

Inside the 2018 Range Rover gets wider front seats that are covered in higher quality leather. "After almost 50 years the fourth generation Range Rover is the finest so far, ensuring the original luxury SUV remains the choice for discerning customers the world over".

Range Rover has matched the new hybrid drivetrain with some new luxury features which include a gesture sunblind, cabin air purification system, anti-dazzle LED headlights and the brand's activity key which was first available with the Jaguar F-Pace.

Drivers are treated to a new 12-inch "Interactive Driver Display" with several menu options, including dual dial, single dial and extended mode views. To keep passengers entertained, Land Rover has also installed their new InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, which uses two screen displays on the center console.

Kicking off the updates is the exterior which, like its Range Rover Sport sibling, gets a minor makeover to bring it in line with the recently-launched Velar.

The Discovery Sport will receive a petrol-hybrid powertrain that's based on a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, shared with the upcoming Range Rover Evoque plug-in hybrid.

"Parallel Hybrid" features two charge management functions, with "Save" preventing battery charge from dropping below a pre-selected level, while "Predictive Energy Optimisation" uses built-in Global Positioning System altitude data to maximise fuel economy when a satellite navigation route is selected.

The PHEV's 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery can be fully charged as soon as two hours and 45 minutes when using a dedicated 32-amp wall box, and offers 51km of pure-electric driving range, according to NEDC standards.

Customers can use the InControl smartphone app to monitor charging status, along with receiving alerts if there has been an error or if the cable has been disconnected from the vehicle. The 2018 Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic starts at $178,195.

Combined output for the PHEV is 297kW, with acceleration across the 0-100km/h sprint taking a claimed 6.8 seconds.

Five exterior colour options are available for the SVAutobiography, including Firenze Red (pictured) - exclusive to the flagship variant.

The powerful Range Rover SVAutobiography represents the pinnacle of the model range when ordered in long-wheelbase guise and is over twice the price of the cheapest Range Rover. The supercharged V8 now produces 565 PS up from 557 PS.
