The story behind 2 big Alabama plays, how film was factor

Here are five overreactions for the Aggies during their match up with the Tide.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide seemed less inclined to celebrate Saturday night's 27-19 victory over Texas A&M than to dwell on what went wrong - and, of course, how to fix it.

Alabama (6-0, 3-0) had rolled past Vanderbilt and MS by a combined score of 125-3 over the last two weeks, but got much more of a test from the young Aggies.

"It is real disappointing". The same could be said of the current Aggies compared with Manziel's first team - the flashes are there, but A&M (4-2, 2-1) likely won't finish 11-2 like that surprising 2012 squad did.

Costly turnovers, big plays, and penalties kept the Aggies from doing the deed though - beating Alabama. "This is going to be a challenging game and it always has been for us and we're certainly going to prepare that way".

The abrupt departure led Alabama to hire Mike Shula, a former Tide quarterback who had zero college football coaching experience. The turnover kept A&M from potentially getting within seven. Fitzpatrick earned his first SEC Defensive Player of the Week award in 2016 for a three-interception performance that included a school-record 100-yard interception return for a touchdown at Arkansas. "He had a little bit of separation at first when the quarterback threw the ball, and I just closed on him to make the pick". A&M ended a short Alabama possession with DE Jarrett Johnson and DT Zaycoven Henderson slamming Hurts to the turf for a loss, then got the ball at their own 46 after a 19-yard punt.

"Coach Banks drew up a great scheme against their punt team", Gillaspia said. I think it's special with the kind of support and tradition that we have.

That No. 3 - star Aggie receiver Christian Kirk - was effectively eliminated from the play because he was streaking left and pressure forced Monk to roll right. Andy Pappanastos would hit a 34-yard field goal to make the score 10-3. The drive included a 17-yard completion and A&M was flagged for pass interference. You see the guys that we recognized as a staff as players of the week. Fitzpatrick also recovered a late Texas A&M onside kick attempt to seal the win.

With half of the regular season in the books, Alabama remains college football's top team. Following a Tide 40-yard field goal by Andy Pappanastos, Trayveon Williams fumbled on the A&M 43-yard line.

Guard Ross Pierschbacher said Saban's message after the game was basically "are you going to listen to me or the media?"

"As season goes on we're going to keep growing stronger". "These guys really have focused in on trying to get better every week, eliminating mistakes, eliminating things that hurt ourselves". "We still have a long season to go and each week we're going to get better and better".
