Winless 49ers fall to host Colts in overtime

Frank Gore no longer 'bitter' about departure from 49ers

Week 5: San Francisco at Indianapolis by the numbers

The thing is they all are different. "And until we do, it's going to be tough to get a win". Indianapolis needs to rebound from another blowout loss, while San Francisco must avoid falling to 0-5. Hoyer is obviously not Wilson, but Kyle Shanahan has watched that game tape and should be able to exploit some match ups with Taylor, Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin. The Colts had taken a 15-10 halftime lead on two consecutive touchdowns: A one-yard run by Robert Turbin and a Donte Moncrief touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett. Hoyer's pass to tight end George Kittle on third down was incomplete, and Robbie Gould came on for the 28-yard field goal to tie it at 3-3 with 2:37 left in the first quarter.

Three-time Pro Bowl wideout T.Y. Hilton overcame an early drop and offered his usual big-play expertise to the passing game. The 49ers will look for their first win in Indianapolis since defeating the Colts 40-21 in 2001.

"What we said is we're not going to talk about what went wrong", Indianapolis head coach Chuck Pagano said.

Buckner will certainly be a lot to handle, but the Colts are getting starting center Ryan Kelly back from injury after he missed the first four games due to a foot injury. We had chances to close it out. He nearly scored a second time in the fourth quarter, but it was called back. Indy is still dealing with the absence of Andrew Luck and his return is looking more and more promising with each passing week but until he does return they are not a very sound bet on a weekly basis and unless they are against a team at a similar stage in terms of talent and hardship like the Niners I don't expect them to generate many victories.

Along the way, Gore passed Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson (13,259 yards) on the league's career rushing list, and Colts' career rushing leader Edgerrin James (3,028) on the league's all-time carries list. San Francisco struggled to get in the end zone again this weekend and wound up losing 26-23 in overtime at Indianapolis. Actually, for an even broader perspective of the futility, it was the third time in four weeks that Hoyer failed to lead the 49ers to a touchdown - at all. Gore rushed for his first 11,073 yards while spending the first 10 years of his career with the 49ers.

"Breida got more work today because he was hot", Shanahan said.

Vinatieri, 44, passed Gary Anderson for second all-time in successful field goals with the victor, which was his fourth made kick of the game. Those kicks capped drives of 41, 72 and 30 yards. He tied George Blanda (639) for third in most field goal attempts, tied Jason Hanson (327) for No. 5 on the National Football League list for games played, and made the 10th overtime field goal of his career - an National Football League record.

If not, safety Jimmie Ward has returned from his hamstring injury and is playing great football.

Hoyer delivered the ball to eight different receivers last week, with Aldrick Robinson leading the team with three catches for 52 yards. Two games they lost either in overtime or by giving up a field goal late in the fourth quarter.
