Arsenal had nearly lost Alexis Sanchez in last transfer window on the deadline day.

Manchester City were keen on signing the Chile star in the summer and came close to completing a deal on deadline day, but for Arsenal's move for a replacement in Thomas Lemar falling through.

This is the case for Arsenal on most weeks, because the top-name experts are too busy focusing on Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, it's easy to forget about the players who have actually been playing well for many weeks.

It would be a wise decision from Arsenal, too, should Sanchez's form continue to disappoint.

Another former Gunner, Alan Smith, has also questioned Arsenal's handling of Ozil and Alexis, with big money having been turned down for the latter during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal legend Lee Dixon has had his say on the Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil debate - with the former England global adamant that they would have both been forced to leave the club were it in his day.

"I've always loved those principles, so if he doesn't want to be here then try and get the most you can for him and get him on and get someone that does want to play for the club". Even the fans have made up their mind and a lot of fans have slammed him for his attitude towards the club.

Sanchez needs to go somewhere where he's going to play regularly.

With neither having committed to fresh terms, speculation regarding their future continues to rumble on - with Sanchez still being heavily linked with Manchester City while Ozil is mooted as a possible January target for United.
