Director Ridley Scott, along with production company Imperative Entertainment, made the shocking and unprecedented decision to recast Spacey's role with six weeks until the film's release. Now, he's attempting what could be his greatest trick yet.

Christopher Plummer has spoken about replacing Kevin Spacey in All The Money In The World, after the actor faced a slew of historic sexual assault allegations. Plummer, 87, stepped in to take on the role of billionaire oil tycoon J. Paul Getty.

He told reporters that "I was in contention (for it) a long time ago, so I was familiar with it". "I've got an offer to play a great role".

Very bad things have 58-year-old actor Kevin spacey.

I attended the premiere for "The Man Who Invented Christmas", which also stars Plummer, on Sunday afternoon, and while there were various questions about that film, which tells the story of how Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) brought Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer) to life and created both "A Christmas Carol" and the festive traditions we still hold dear to this day, the conversation quickly turned to Plummer's involvement in "All The Money In The World". He's very good. I loved the script. "That's all I can say, because that's it". I admire Ridley Scott and I'm thrilled to be making a movie for him.

The film follows Getty's grandson John Paul Getty III, who was kidnapped by an organized crime regime, and his mother Gail's (Michelle Williams) attempts to convince his wealthy grandfather to pay the ransom. "The situation is very sad". The script was wonderful.

All The Money In The World will be released in cinemas in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Friday 5 January 2018. "I have known so many Scrooges".

The reshooting comes after actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of trying to seduce him in 1986 when Rapp was 14.

Netflix has since severed ties with Spacey, one of its biggest stars and the lead in its drama House of Cards, after a number of allegations of sexual misconduct against the Oscar-winning actor.

Spacey's ouster comes amid an increasing number of sexual assault allegations against the actor which have knocked Spacey from a number of projects slated to feature the two-time Academy Award victor.
