Salvation Army Christmas kettle appeal gets going

"The kettle donations is a remarkable way to make tons of money to help the community".

The Salvation Army Santa Clarita Valley Corps will host its inaugural Red Kettle Kickoff at the SCV Corps office, 22935 Lyons Ave.in Newhall, on Thursday, November 16, from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m.

Volunteers allow the Salvation Army to help the community, which, according to a press release, has been hit hard by the economy. "Last year it was nearly 1,900 kids just 12 and under in our local community".

"Some families are going through harder times than they have in previous years and this is all the toys there are for the Christmas holiday season", he said.

Bridger said the Salvation is able to be very flexible with potential volunteers. "We want to do everything we can to support the people of our community", she said.

You need to bring a photo ID, proof of income and address along with birth certificates, report cards or custody papers with birth dates for every child in your household. "We get various donations and whatever the case may be, we accept all donations and grateful for whatever people can give", Bridger said. He noted that in addition to these meals, the Salvation Army assisted with school uniforms and supplies for less fortunate children.

"We are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m".

Bridger wanted to thank the people of Red Deer for their generosity in year's past. Help us provide food, hydration, shelter and long-term assistance to our fellow Texans in need. "I believe The Salvation Army is one of the most efficient ways to help the people of Navarro County".
