Amazon launches Prime service in Singapore five months after entering Asia

The Amazon Prime service includes member benefits such as, fast shipping, streaming, and gaming.

Prime members here will be eligible for free global shipping on orders above $60 of more than five million items from Amazon's USA store, which will be made available on the Prime Now mobile app. They will also enjoy access to gaming benefits with Twitch Prime, at no additional cost.

As part of its promotional effort, membership fees for Singaporeans are offered at the sweet, sweet price of S$2.99 a month for a limited time before they revert to the standard S$8.99 monthly.

Singapore will be the first country in Southeast Asia, and 16th globally, to launch Amazon Prime. Its service, which offers free two-hour delivery from its local warehouse with a minimum order of $40 between 10 am and 10 pm daily via the Prime Now app, will also be made exclusive for members. And this is just the beginning.

"We have been very encouraged by the strong response and adoption of Prime Now over the last several months", he added.

Today, 6 November, Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Prime in Singapore. However, the delivery services are more stable now, and product categories and options have both been enlarged.

Customers who do not have a Prime membership in the U.S. can, however, enjoy free delivery within the country for orders totalling US$25 or more on eligible items. "In addition, with the attractive loyalty program offerings and promotions that Amazon is offering, consumers will be willing to give Amazon another shot", said Wang.

The catch here is that the worldwide range of over five million products is only available within the Prime Now app itself.

Twitch Prime: Free in-game loot, like exclusive characters, boosts, and skins, in games including Blizzard Entertainment's Hearthstone, Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Origins, and Digital Extreme's Warframe, plus full games from indie developers.

However, this does mean the previously free Prime Now service is gone, and users will have to subscribe to Prime if they even want to make a purchase locally, unlike local rivals Redmart and Honestbee, which do not require a subscription to order products such as diapers or groceries. There's also no music or books included with the membership. To sign up for a free 30-day trial and to learn more, customers can visit
