On December 7, Sheeran received a MBE - the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - for his work in the arts, and was presented with the chivalrous distinction at Buckingham Palace.

From sleeping rough outside Buckingham Palace to receiving a MBE from the Prince of Wales inside the Palace the Castle on the Hill singer has come a long way.

Sheeran is open to performing at the forthcoming royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Sporting a blue tie, long black jacket, light blue waistcoat and grey pants outside the ceremony at Buckingham Palace afterwards, Sheeran spoke to reporters.

When asked if he'd like to sing for the 33-year-old prince and the former Suits actress at their ceremony at Windsor Chapel in May 2018, he said: "Yeah, why not".

He has also been named as the biggest star on YouTube in the United Kingdom in 2017, topping the site's most popular video lists for the year.

According to Clarence House, Sheeran's MBE is for his services to music and charity.

Sheeran's "New York concert" tomorrow (Dec. 8) is the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden.

The singer, who has enjoyed worldwide success with his hits such as The A-Team and Thinking Out Loud, also spoke about his late grandad at the event. "I think it's persistence".

"I don't have a vast amount of talent compared to other people, I think talent is like 30% of it and persistence, drive and self-belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing".
