The singer announced the news on Instagram by posting a picture of them together, writing: "So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning". 'I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock. Thank you for everything. "It upsets me, but to be honest with you, I don't miss her".

She furthermore claimed Elton never told her when his sons Elijah and Zachary were born.

The 70-year-old musician has been left in "shock" following his mum Sheila Farebrother's passing on Monday morning (12.04.17) and took to his Instagram account to pay tribute to her.

Mrs Farebrother previously told the Daily Mail that Elton rang her nine years ago and ordered her to cut off all contact with Bob Halley - Sir Elton's driver turned personal assistant, who he had fired after more than 30 years of service - and John Reid, with whom he had fallen out.
