Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event returns December 12

Overwatch's Jeff Kaplan is back to give a bit of information about next week's "Return to Winter Wonderland" holiday event.

As usual, fans should expect a slew of new Legendary costumes, which will be up for grabs with the latest patch.

Since the game released in May of previous year, Overwatch has continued to grow its playerbase with new characters, cosmetics, and a continued focus on special limited run events, with the next in-game event to begin right around the holidays. The familiar 6v6 "Mei's Snowball Offensive" will return (also playable on the Black Forest map), but it will be joined by the brand-new "Mei's Yeti Hunt". Called Mei's Yeti Hunt, it features five Meis teaming up to beat one "yeti", here played by our favorite gorilla scientist Winston.

Kaplan also hinted at the arrival of a new, "long-awaited" Hanzo skin, previously seen in one of the Overwatch comics.

Winter Wonderland will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 when it launches next Tuesday, and the full line-up of 2017 seasonal skins will likely be revealed soon. This considered a "boss fight" mode. "I was absolutely blown away when I saw the work that they had done and we really hope that you enjoy that". King's Row and Hanamura will once again be sporting their frosty good looks, and there's a new seasonal update for the Black Forest arena map too. Once Winston is Primal Rage'd, the Meis just have to escape. It sounds like a chaotic mode and it will be interesting to see what tricks the Yeti can pull to give himself an advantage against the pack of Meis hunting him down.
