Rob Gronkowski under fire for awfully dirty hit

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was penalized but not ejected for a late hit on Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White on Sunday.

Tre'Davious White intercepted a Tom Brady pass while covering Gronkowski. Despite White being clearly out, Gronk body slammed the cornerback and threw his elbow into the head of White, who entered concussion protocol. Gronkowski was flagged for unnecessary roughness. The Bills Jerry Hughes was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, so, somehow, the Bills were the ones losing yards on the play.

According to Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal, Gronkowski apologized after the contest for his actions but granted he was "frustrated by the lack of calls he gets and the calls he's called for".

"I don't believe in shots like that", Gronkowski said. McDermott appears to confront Belichick about the hit and Belichick responds by saying "I understand, it was bullshit, i'm sorry". White was making a lot of contact with the tight end, but wasn't flagged for holding or pass interference. "And they're calling me for the craziest stuff ever". "It was just frustration, and that's what happened". And then they don't call that [on White].

"It's, like, crazy. I mean ... like, what am I supposed to do?"

When asked if the frustration was the culmination of the past couple of games, Gronkowski answered back, "Over the past seven years".
