One child killed, 22 hospitalized after Georgia school bus accident

A 5-year-old girl has died in a school bus crash that also injured several others Tuesday in South Georgia.

A 5-year-old girl has been killed after a school bus left the road and crashed into a tree in Georgia.

According to Liberty County EMA Assistant Director Larry Logan, the accident happened on Highway 196 at Ray Road and is still under investigation. After crashing into a tree, the roof of the bus caved in trapping Rodriguez.

The driver had been trapped inside the bus, and she was hospitalized after emergency responders freed her.

A New Jersey native & Rutgers University graduate who firmly believes it's better to be lucky than good. After she was extricated from the bus, she was transported to Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

The children on the bus were between the ages of 5 and 12, officials said. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student's family in their time of grief.

The Georgia State Patrol responded to the single-vehicle crash about 7:15 Ga.
