Selena Gomez honours Francia Raisa for life-saving transplant

Gomez gave a tearful acceptance speech, where she acknowledged her best friend, Francia Rasia for donating her kidney to her. Raisa, who presented the award to Gomez, is an actress best known for her role as Adrian Lee on The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Gomez was named Billboard's 2017 Woman of the Year, and in an interview with the magazine published Thursday, was asked if she "feels comfortable" with the scar from the kidney transplant she underwent earlier this year.

After revealing in September that she had received a life-saving kidney transplant, she only recently made her return to the stage in a heavy performance of her latest single, "Wolves", at the AMAs.

After thanking Fanning and Raisa, Gomez added "I don't know how I'll ever repay it but maybe I'll make an epic album next year".

She cherishes on/off beau Justin Bieber and is best friends with her ex, the Weeknd. I could not be more grateful for the position that I have been given in my career. "I want people to know that I respect the platform that I have so deeply because I knew that I wanted to be a part of something great and I wanted people to feel great because I love people". It's a really handsome thing and I have to remind myself of that. Thank you to all of you who have inspired so many girls who don't feel like they have a voice.

She's also really proud of where she is right now. "When I look at my body now, I just see life".

After years of struggling with anxiety and depression stemming from her long-term lupus battle, Gomez said she now handles her challenges in a healthy way.
