The last time Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh went head-to-head against each other at the box office, it was in 2015. This morning, both Karan and Ranveer took to their social media handles to share the first look of the Bajirao Mastani actor as Inspector Sangram Bhalerao in Simmba. It has already been told that this film will be a remake of JR NTR Telugu film Temper.

It wasn't too long ago when director Rohit made the announcement about making a film with Ranveer. "What a combo! Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty collaborate for Simmba that will star everyone's favourite Ranveer Singh", a netizen wrote on Twitter while another added: "Can't wait!" He shared a teaser poster of the movie featuring Ranveer Singh in the role of a quirky cop.

"We have bought the rights of Temper but our film is not exactly a remake". Karan took the lead to introduce the film with the caption, "28th December 2018!" Our film was different from the original Singham except a few scenes. "The heroine of the film is not yet finalised, we will start working on it after Diwali", said Shetty in an earlier interview, according to a DNA report. "Here also, we have written our own film taking the exact idea".

The release date of SRK's film, directed by Aanand L Rai and also starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, had been announced for Christmas, but now it's not clear if they would release on 21 or 28. Ranveer Singh is also awaiting the release of highly anticipated and controversial movie, Padmavati, which also stars Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
