The 31-year-old former world champion will end an absence of nearly two years when he returns to the ring at The Echo Arena, Liverpool, on April 21, with an opponent to be announced.
"Then I had the hand injury, and I was waiting for the hand to get better".
The Khan marriage had hit the hard place between mutual, lurid accusations with Khan alleging that his wife had an affair with world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, with whom he will now be a stablemate in Hearn's Matchroom promotions.
"Just as important a factor was the opportunity to fight in the United Kingdom for the first time in seven years, and to do so with the support of the British fans and Sky Sports behind me".
'Going to the jungle made me think about everything that had been going wrong with my life, ' said Khan as he revealed a three-fight campaign to win a world welterweight title. I'm going to get the feel of boxing again and go to training camp in a few weeks.
"I am 31 and will make sure I make no more mistakes; staying happy and making sure no mistakes are made and doing the right thing".
"I'm thrilled to be teaming up with Matchroom", said Khan. Three fights this year is something I want to do and I can't wait.
His partnership with Hearn has also fuelled speculation of a bout with Kell Brook, who also has Hearn as a promoter, in the future.
"He [Hearn] is the best in boxing, he's on top of his game at the moment and I know I can get to where I need to get to with him".
A fight between the pair has always been touted, however, never came to fruition as the two boxers camps could not agree terms.
'That's one of the reasons why I keep away from Eddie Hearn and his shows, I just don't want to be in that drama'.
"Great business is great business and this is a great move for everybody", Hearn said. If he really wanted the fight between me and Kell Brook he should not be speaking to me, he should be speaking to (my adviser) Al Haymon. I have no more time to lose.
With Brook now operating at 154 and set for a debut at the higher limit on March 3, any United Kingdom super-fight would potentially be held up by Khan's plans at 147 pounds. "Eddie's good at that and you have to respect him".
Speaking ahead of last year's showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor, Khan said: "The only way I would take that Brook fight is if he left Eddie Hearn".
