For example, the Blue Oval has made a decision to showcase there - in front of the worldwide audience of the North American International Auto Show - the updated Ford Edge midsize SUV, complete with the all-new introduction of the ST version.
The second-generation Ford Edge may look like a hot hatch on stilts, but it has always lacked the necessary muscle to go like one.
Ford will unveil its new 2019 Edge ST crossover SUV at the Detroit Auto Show next week. That includes a black-out version of the crossover's hexagonal grille. Speaking of, the overall shaped of those lights is more angular and aggressive than on the crossover's predecessor.
SYNC with AppLink™, an enhanced voice-recognition communications and entertainment system, is also standard. There's also available adaptive cruise-control and lane-centering features.
It is the first Ford SUV to have been tuned by Ford Performance, who are of course the same people who designed and built the GT supercar.
Expect to see the sharpened Edge on show in Detroit starting next week, in all specifications - including the new ST (pictured in blue) and the premium Titanium model (in deep red). The body color is also extended further down on the front and sides of the vehicle.
Sadly, the spoiler is exactly the same as on the regular models.
The features for the vehicle have been explained elaborately and for power, the Edge ST has a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. It's mated exclusively to a retuned 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and all-wheel drive.
Smart Vehicle for a Smart World The new Edge - including all-new Edge ST - is Ford's smartest SUV ever, and every model comes standard with more driver-assist technology than any other midsize SUV.
Among the companies that are mass-market, Toyota fitted the brakes in 56% of its fleet for 2017, in comparison to only 30% at Honda Motor, 20% at General Motors and not even 10% by Ford Motor. The suspension, meanwhile, has been upgraded with a higher spring rate and increased damper stiffness for improved cornering. Unique 21-inch wheels are available and interior design cues on the steering wheel, seat backs and scuff plates provide a subtle reminder that this five-passenger SUV is something special. The sporty ST-Line is already an established part of the UK Edge lineup, and might soon channel a little more of the ST's sporting character than before. An embedded modem comes standard on all 2019 Ford Edge models, meaning it gets onboard 4G LTE access and a built-in mobile WiFi hotspot that can support up to ten devices. Engineers said the service is free for a trial period, after which owners will have to pay for the connection through a provider.
On top of that, there's a veritable multitude of standard and optional active driver assist technologies.
New technology includes Ford's Evasive Steering Assist which aims to steer you round obstacles if needed, along with Forward Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Keep Assist.
