Jack White appeared to tease a new album last month with a sprawling sound collage of new music called "Servings And Portions From My Boarding House Reach". There's less of the thrill or the bite here that might be expected of a typical Jack White lead single - but perhaps that's the point.

"Directed by Pasqual Gutierrez, the clip for the first song the rocker wrote for his forthcoming third solo record was filmed in Los Angeles and Nashville past year".

As White told Rolling Stone, the song was written in his Nashville apartment.

The first track, "Connected By Love", features White's introspective side along with a bombastic chorus, gospel-tinged backup vocals from The McCrary Sisters' Ann and Regina McCrary and a keyboard-versus-guitar solo-trading section with Soulive/Lettuce keyboardist Neal Evans.

Stream the two new tunes via below, where you can also watch the freshly unveiled music video for "Connected by Love".

White expertly pivots through it all - plus an eye-watering guitar solo - before stripping it down to a basic piano line and then bringing everything back in again for a climactic, if rather staid, finale.

A companion track is entitled "Respect Commander".

"The two songs are available digitally now, or on a 7" single from the XL Recordings store.
