BSNL jumps into data and validity revision game, update its prepaid plans

Jio effect: Airtel Rs. 399 plan with 1GB data per day now with 70 days validity

Along with this, Jio launched plans with 1.5GB per day and raised the daily data allowance on the Rs. 509 and Rs. 709 prepaid recharges. The Jio plan revision is part of the Happy New Year 2018 offer and available for only users.

"As on November 30, 2017, the top five wireless broadband service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm (15.2 crore), Bharti Airtel (6.72 crore), Vodafone (5 crore), Idea Cellular (3.29 crore) and BSNL (1.19 crore)", the report said.

State-run telecom firm BSNL extended the validity of select prepaid mobile plans by 43 percent and increased the data offered by 50 percent, with an aim to counter Reliance Jio's latest offer. Apart from these, Jio is now offering 3GB data per day and 5GB data per day for 28 days with the Rs. 509 and Rs. 799 packs, respectively. This move will help the Mukesh Ambani-backed telecom operator to continue offer its 4G data services at the ultra-low prices, keeping the incumbents on edge. Plan 398 of Jio offers 105GB data for 70 days. Airtel's Rs. 93 pack gives numerous benefits like unlimited local, STD as well as roaming calls, 100 local and STD SMS daily along with 1GB of 3G/ 4G data, which is valid for a period of 10 days.

1GB Data Plans of Jio - The 349 prepaid plan of Jio now offers 70GB data with unlimited calls including all calls and the validity of this plan of Jio is now 70 days.

Airtel had newly launched a new prepaid pack of Rs. 199 that gives 1GB data daily for 28 days.

The earlier Rs. 149 pack, which offered 28-day validity and 150MB data per day, has been phased out as part of this exercise. The Rs. 299 plan with 2GB data per day remains unchanged. Airtel also offers a Rs. 509 plan that was recently revised to offer 91 days validity with the same benefits. Further, Jio also offers unlimited voice calls on all networks in India, 100 SMSs daily, and free subscription to Jio apps.

Visitor location register (VLR), a key metric reflecting the number of active subscribers on a mobile network, indicated that 99.23% of users were active for Bharti Airtel, 94.87% for Vodafone India, 102.47% for Idea and 81.45% for Reliance Jio.
