Nintendo Direct reveals Dark Souls is coming to Switch

Announcing Dark Souls Remastered for Switch in the second week of the new year is a great way to send off strong third-party support vibes for 2018. Before Dark Souls topped off the Direct, it was revealed that the Nintendo DS rhythm battle classic, The World Ends With You, will be coming to console 10 years after its original release.

The Switch, which debuted worldwide early previous year, has been Nintendo's fastest-selling console system of all time.

The Direct opens the announcement of a Switch port of The World Ends With You, a Square Enix JRPG - not one of their largest brands, but a highly-respected title that has a history on Nintendo platforms nonetheless.

However, had EA jumped on the Nintendo Switch train early like its competitors did, it would have reaped the massive early success they had with their releases. Which games are you most looking forward to on the Nintendo Switch?

Other announcements included confirmation that Payday 2 was coming to Switch on February 27th, and free DLC for Super Mario Odyssey launching in February.

But what are we going to play on it in 2018?

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, originally released for Wii U, will include a "beginner-friendy" mode to balance out its infamously hard gameplay. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze adds a cool new surf board mode plus two player co-op has also been retained. The game will be available from April 24.

Even more excitingly, though, Donkey Kong is making his debut on Switch.

Payday 2 will release in Europe and Australia on February 23rd, and in North America and South America on February 27th. The new update brings new costumes and a new minigame that features Luigi to Super Mario Odyssey. Enter a new retail listing that shows off Yoshi and when Switch fans can expect the new game.

There's no set release date at the moment, but we'll be sure to keep you updated. Nintendo will release the game in Spring 2018. It will also be coming with a timed-exclusive playable character who has the ability to hack through any system. Like previous games in the franchise, "Tropical Freeze" puts Donkey Kong and the rest of his family through a perilous adventure across dozens of gorgeous, brilliantly crafted 2D levels.
