TechCrunch was one of the first to notice the trial, reporting that the feature had been spotted by users around the world.
Facebook is conducting a small test of a new feature that will allow users to post their Instagram "Stories" directly as WhatsApp Status.
WhatsApp Status is a feature where users can post content for contacts to view during a 24-hour period, after which point it disappears.
WhatsApp now has over 200 monthly active users in India.
According to a Brazilian blog, Instagram is testing a way through which its users can directly post their Stories on WhatsApp. The official roll out of the feature may happen soon, however, the timeline of the rollout hasn't been decided yet.
The Instagram Story which will be posted on Instagram will be posted as a WhatsApp status like the rest of WhatsApp.
Facebook owns Whatsapp as well as Instagram. In fact, the company is now experimenting cross-posting Stories to WhatsApp, albeit only in Brazil. Now with the feature of sharing Instagram stories as WhatsApp status, it will give users the convenience of a better multi-platform connectivity.
With the latest update, users will be able to follow the hashtags.
The first of all is to make it more functional and give more usage to Instagram Stories, and directly affecting the usage of the Snapchat product they were created to clone. This will also help both the platforms to boost traffic.
